11, 19, 21 Build-a-saur Contest In conjunction with the exhibit Dinosaur Art: Science & Imagination, the North Museum is sponsoring a Build-a-saur Contest. The contest is open to children ages 6 to 12. Each child needs to bring their own set of building materials to create a dinosaur model. Contestants will have one hour at the Museum to complete their model. The finished dinosaur must be no longer than two feet in any dimension (length, height, or depth), and no motorized or dinosaur models kits are allowed. K'nex, Lego or similar construction systems may be used. Children are expected to work by themselves, not in teams or helped by an adult. No construction materials will be provided by the Museum. Contest dates are: January 11 4:00 pm, January 19 3:00 pm, January 21 10:30 am & 2:00 pm (January 25 4:00 pm (snow date)) Three winners will be selected from each session and kept on display until a final judging on the weekend of February 2 and 3. All participants will receive a ribbon. The top three dinosaurs overall will receive prizes and stay on display at the Museum until the close of the Dinosaur Art exhibit on February 28. Creativity, realism and sound construction technique are all equally important in the judging. To reserve a place for your child at one of the building sessions call 291-4371. A maximum of ten participants may register for each building session. This program introduces your young child to a different book each week, as well as exploring natural history. An adult must accompany each child and older siblings are welcome.
