Learn about all about Animals in Winter!  This program introduces your young child to a different book each week, as well as exploring natural history.  An adult must accompany each child and older siblings are welcome.

“Grands are GRAND!” will explore
All Kinds of Bears.  The “Grands are GRAND!” workshops are interactive for young visitors ages 3-5 and their favorite young-at-heart grandparents, and combine literacy, science, and a take-home craft. Registration is required for all classes. Please call 291-4371 to register or for more information.
 

16  Sssslithering Sssaturday                                                                                                                               11:30 am    Lower Level     What Is A Reptile?    Jill Showalter                                                                                                       Just what is a reptile and how are they different from other animals?  Meet the North Museum’s turtles, lizards, and snakes to discover the answer.  Examine various hands-on items including turtle shells and snakeskin, and encounter the North Museum’s live animal collection.

So many shapes! Yet they all have scales. Round, long, squat, and thin; soft, hard, fat and slim...explore the body plans of reptiles. Discover how their shapes help keep them alive!

17 & 18     Moonlight Madness                                                                                                                                      Did you know that there will be a total lunar eclipse on February 20th?  Visit the Museum on the 17th and 18th to learn all about the moon before this event that will not happen again for two years.  Activities include:                                         Moon Pie - test your knowledge about the Moon, its environment, and build a picture of the Moon through an interactive trivia game.                                                                                                                                                                                          Moon Jump - see how high you can jump on Earth and then learn how high it would be on the moon.                               Our Changing Moon - learn the order of the phases and why Moon has phases.                                                                 Oreo Moon Phases – a delicious way to learn the phases of our Moon.                                                                                Lunar Eclipse Presentation - learn why we have lunar eclipses and what we can expect for the upcoming lunar eclipse in the Tech Theatre.  Sunday 1:45 pm; Monday 11 am & 4 pm                                                                                                        Field Trip to the Moon – a video all about the Moon. Win the trivia questions at the end.

18   The Museum is OPEN for President's Day
10:00am - 5:00pm
Explore the Museum.  You can even see a planetarium show at 1:00 or 2:30!  You'll be glad you got the day off!
