Summer Camp: Nanobiotechnology Explorations
Date: July 29-Aug 2
Time: 9am to 4pm
For: High School Juniors and Seniors
Explore the world of really tiny structures (nanostructures) capable of producing BIG wonders! Come find out what nanostructures have to do with disease detection, cancer research, heart stents, environmental protection, your laptops and i-Phones. Do you think gold can be blue and pink? Interested in learning more about how to mend bone fractures with nanoglue, without too many surgeries? Want to know what nanostructures have to do with your day to day sunscreen lotions? How about a foldable TV screen? Sound fascinating? Based on a report by NSF, one million nanotechnology trained workers would be needed by 2015. Enroll to learn about this fascinating area expected to make a great impact all fields of science.
The North Museum will host this Harrisburg University of Science and Technology course as a summer camp for rising high school juniors and seniors, to provide them an opportunity to learn about nanobiotechnology. Each day focuses on a theme dedicated to a specific field of nanobiotechnology. The camp includes a series of interesting lecture components, lab experiments, class discussions and cool class projects.
This is a 2-college credit course offered as a college-in-high-school course with highly subsidized tuition. Contact PYoung@harrisburgu.edu (717-901-5121) in Admissions for cost of the camp and registration process.
