North Museum Sensory Online Tour

When I come to the North Museum, I have to wait at the front desk for an adult to pay.

I can hang my coat up on the coat rack. If I touch the Hot Hand board, I can see an imprint of my hand.

In the Live Animal room, I can look at reptiles and insects. I do not tap on the glass or make loud noises so the animals will be happy. There might be an adult with an animal out of its cage.

In the Hall of the Cosmos I can learn about space. I can watch a movie about Earth and space. I can make a constellation on the wall. I can play a computer game that asks me questions about space. I can turn the Celestial Wheel to look at different stars and constellations. I wait my turn and let other visitors use the computer or Celestial Wheel when I am done.

In the Discovery Room, I can build a dinosaur skeleton or work on puzzles. There are pieces of bark and fur that I can touch.   I can also choose a Mystery Box that has a lot of fun surprises inside.

I can dig for fossils in the Dinosaur Hall. There are goggles so sand can’t get in my eyes. I don’t have to wear them if I don’t want to. I use sticks to move the sand so I can see the fossil. I can see how big a T-Rex’s head was at the Skull Hologram. It has bright colors and looks like it is moving towards me but I know it is not real.

The planetarium show can be a nice break from all the exciting activities at the museum.  I can sit and relax while I learn about space or dinosaurs. On Sensory Friendly Days I can get up and walk around if I need to and the volume of the show will not be as loud. I can talk during the Sensory Friendly show also, but I still try not to be too loud.

There is a lot to do on the first floor! If I need to take a break, I can find the Rest Area on my map. In the Rest Area there are chairs, drinks, snacks and toys I can play with. I am quiet in the Rest Area.

Downstairs there are lots of birds, gems and fossils to look at. I can open drawers to see more insects and rocks. I can also build with Legos.

Upstairs I can look at artifacts and paintings of Native Americans. I can use a grownups phone to do a listening tour that tells me about Native Americans. Sometimes there are other pictures and paintings to look at too. I look at all the pictures and pick my favorite.
